Shopping Angels
A pre-med student at the University of Nevada, Reno, has created a network of volunteers to assist the elderly with their shopping needs during the COVID-19 outbreak. Jayde Powell, prompted by her mother's suggestion that she call elderly neighbors to see if they had needs, organized a few volunteers to help. Interest has now spread to Maine, Washington, Florida, California and even internationally. Since March 13, the student has been connecting those in need with volunteers. Those who are unable to pay for necessities are urged to still use the service. Powell has also started a GOFUNDME page to help with the cost. Who can YOU help today?
